Persepolis, Panahi and Power

I’m deeply disturbed by the progress Iran has made in nuclear empowerment. Not because I fear world security. No, they are not uncultured to attack the world. But because a scavenger like America could feed on Iran’s riches if a war breaks out. Like Babylonia, another land of great culture, history and other soft variables could be erased or impoverished by a new world nation like the US or a recent development like Israel. In all probability, these two nations that lack a long history could or will join hands to put an end to old Persia. Along with it, will go its beautiful pastures, cherry trees, saffron, oil and cinema. These riches will become another chapter of its long undisputed history. Iran once ruled the world. And today the world is ruled by lands unknown in the past and later filled in it by barbarians of dungeons from faraway lands.

And India will keep mum like its prime minister. We will continue to be shameless. We will continue to bend our rubber backbone. And our ancestors unlike Iran’s will look down upon us.

With greater powers of the world imposing economic sanctions on Iran, it is a great reminder of the proverbial saying about how men without both arms mock at those with at least one.
